Receiving A Prophetic Word

The scripture is quite clear concerning prophetic words.
"But he that prophesies speaks to men for
edification (to knowledge, character, and the progress of the church), and exhortation (motivation to perform our duty), and comfort (this touches sorrow and fear)." (1 Corinthians 14:3)

The heart of God toward His people is love. His heart is for their edification, exhortation and comfort. As you receive words check them by the standard of Christ.
Revelation 19:10

  6. Does this word promote faith in me?

  7. Will this word fulfilled bring glory to God?

  8. Will this word enhance the character of Christ in me?

  9. Does this word ultimately praise and glorify God?

  10. Does the peace of God witness with this word?

Bring questionable words to the elders for discernment.
